Vastu for Kitchen

Vastu Shastra is an ancient science of balancing energies in and around a place. Kitchen is where healthy and nutritious food is cooked. Kitchen is the place of transformation because it’s in the kitchen where all the raw and uncooked food is transformed into delicious meals.

Kitchen is the most important place in the house so it must design according to the Vaastu Shastra Principles. Kitchen is the place where housewives spend most of the time of the day chorus job. That is why we cannot under emphasize importance of proper vastu for the kitchen. If proper vastu rules are not followed in the kitchen owner might have difficulties in the life.

According to Vaastu for kitchen the ideal place to construct the Dream kitchen is the South east (Agneya) and second is Northwest (Vayavya) direction of the house. As the South east is governed by the Fire element. So to get the maximum benefits of fire element you must have a Kitchen in South east, which also a primary factor in General health and well being of the habitants.

Vastu Non-Compliant Kitchen will have loss of health for the cook and head of the family, lethal diseases and untimely death, financial condition deteriorates, credits goes up, bankruptcy, clashes within family, separation or divorce.

A kitchen in North-East causes mental tension among family members and they suffer great losses.  Kitchen in South-West leads to clashes among family members. A kitchen in North-West direction is acceptable but it leads to increase in monetary expenditure. Most dangerous kitchen is the one placed in North direction; as North is Lord Kubera’s (the God of Wealth) direction, having kitchen in North will increase expenditure of family beyond expectations and control. Never face west while cooking as this leads to severe health problems.

Here are the some General Vaastu tips for kitchen

Position of door in the kitchen should be in the north, east or in the north-east corner of the direction in the Kitchen entrance. It should also open clockwise direction. Kitchen shouldn't place the North- East corner of the house which may lead to lots of unrest in the home and may destroy peace of house. It is also better to avoid kitchen at South-West side. This is also likely to cause many difficulties and worries to the owner.

The cooking gas must be placed in the Southeast as it provides peace of mind. In North-West kitchen the gas burner can be placed in the North-West in West but don’t place the gas stove exactly in front of the kitchen entrance. The kitchen should have its heavier articles placed in the North-West or the South-West like the fridge, Mixer grinder, and water storage bottles. The slab should be placed in the East, away from the Eastern wall.

In kitchen water storage and water taps should be placed in North-east. The dining table should be in the North-west of the Kitchen. The ideal place for Gas-cylinder is South east corner of the Kitchen. Kitchen door and toilet door should never face each other also kitchen windows should be in the East direction. The smaller windows can be in the South. There should be adequate provision for cross ventilation.

The kitchen shouldn’t build below or above a bathroom and or toilet. The Pooja room is never to be constructed above the kitchen since it brings bad luck. Exhaust fans in the eastern walls in the Southeast corner. The Kitchen is the best place to have the daily meals. The white is the best color for kitchen also can use yellow, orange, rose, chocolate or red as floor and wall colors of kitchen.
